The Andromeda Trio - Marcus Scholtes, violin; Miriam Stewart-Kroeker, cello; and Benjamin Smith, piano - return with a lovely program: Mozart’s trio in C, K.548; Shostakovich’s first trio, c minor, Op.8; and Brahms’s magnificent B Major trio, a late work despite its Op.8 designation. A Special Notice for SuperTicket holders: KWCMS is cautiously entering the 21st century! TicketScene is providing a QR code to each SuperTicket holder, which can be scanned like an ordinary ticket at the entry to each concert. Norbert has printed out a page with the QR code for each current ST holder, which you can pick up at the box office at the next concert you attend. (Alternatively, TicketScene may have emailed you with directions for downloading the QR code directly to your phone.) Once you have the paper with the QR code, you can bring it to each concert and present it as a ticket for admission. OR you can take a picture of the code on your phone and it can be scanned from there. And if you arrive for a concert and don’t have the code with you in either digital or analog mode, not to worry! Just go to the box office where you will be checked off manually. Help with this new-fangled hi-tech method is available! Just ask at the box office. This is obviously a bit more hassle than the old days, when we would wander into the Narvesons’ Music Room, be greeted with a smile and waved in, no ticket, no muss no fuss. The advantage with the new procedure is that TicketScene will be able to keep an accurate count for us of how many attendees we have for each concert, and this is valuable data for planning future seasons. Upcoming Concerts: Monday, October 26, 7:00 pm: Millwood Trio - piano, violin, clarinet Thursday, October 29, and Sunday, November 1, the Zemlinsky Quartet returns from Prague with not one but TWO CONCERTS! Details, as always, at the website: k-wcms.com A footnote to Sofya Gulyak’s concert, Tuesday September 22: The sweet little encore she played, it turns out, is Liszt’s Ländler in Ab, a brief (45 seconds!) piece he wrote in 1843 although it wasn’t published until 1958. There’s a performance on YouTube with scrolling score, and the music is available at IMSLP. There are some discrepancies in the second half between the notation and the performance…
