Airshow London is excited to welcome the U.S. Air Force E-9A Widget from the 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida to the SkyDrive 2026 Static Display! Coming from the same squadron as the QF-16 "Zombie Vipers" announced earlier today, the E-9A Widget adds another rare piece of the Tyndall mission to SkyDrive 2026. And rare really is the word for this one. There are only two E-9A Widgets in the entire U.S. Department of Defense inventory – and both call Tyndall Air Force Base home. The E-9A Widget plays a very different role than the QF-16s, but it supports the same high-stakes testing mission. While the QF-16s serve as full-scale aerial targets, the E-9A helps set the stage – scanning the Gulf of Mexico, supporting range safety, and relaying critical telemetry before targets and fighters take to the sky. It also has a unique Canadian connection: the E-9A is a modified Bombardier Dash 8, originally developed as the de Havilland Canada Dash 8. So yes – this is one rare aircraft you don't get to see every day.
